# Free trial, change or cancel

> How the free trial works, how to switch plans and how to cancel your Block Hero subscription.

## Free trial

Your first Block Hero subscription comes with a free trial. The plan card on the **Plans** page shows its length, for example **7-day free trial**.

* The trial is for your store's first subscription only. It doesn't start again when you switch plans or subscribe again.
* If you switch plans or subscribe again before your trial ends, you keep only the trial days you have left. After the trial ends, there are none.
* You still approve the charge in Shopify when you start the trial. Billing starts automatically when the trial ends.

While you are on a trial, the **Current plan** card shows **Trial ends** with the date, and **Billing starts automatically after that.**

In the last three days of your trial, a banner at the top of Block Hero says **Your free trial ends in** with the number of days, or **Your free trial ends today**. Click **View plans** to review or change your plan.

## Approve the charge in Shopify

When you click **Choose plan** or **Switch to this plan**, Shopify opens its approval page. Approve the charge there. Back in Block Hero, the **Plans** page shows **Confirming your subscription with Shopify…** until Shopify confirms it.

| What you see | What to do |
| - | - |
| **Plan activated** | Nothing. Your plan is active. |
| **We haven't heard back from Shopify yet** | If you approved the charge, wait a moment and click **Check again**. If you declined it, choose a plan again. |
| **The charge wasn't approved** | No plan was started, or your current plan is still active. Choose a plan when you're ready. |

If you leave the approval page without approving, the **Current plan** card shows **Pending approval**. Click **Choose plan** again to get back to it.

If a plan shows **Free**, it starts right away with no approval in Shopify.

## Switch plans

**1. Open Plans**

Click **Plans** in the app menu.

**2. Pick the new plan**

On the plan you want, click **Switch to this plan**.

**3. Approve it in Shopify**

Approve the new charge. The new plan replaces your current plan as soon as you approve it.

If you decline the new charge, nothing changes. Your current plan stays active.

## Cancel your subscription

**1. Open Plans**

Click **Plans** in the app menu.

**2. Click Cancel subscription**

On the **Current plan** card, click **Cancel subscription**.

**3. Confirm**

In the **Cancel subscription** window, click **Cancel subscription**. Click **Keep plan** to change your mind.

The window explains: **Your scheduled content stays in place, but Block Hero stops billing and you'll need to choose a plan again to keep using it.**

After you cancel, the **Current plan** card shows **Cancelled**. To come back, choose a plan on the **Plans** page.

> **Cancel subscription** only appears when you have a subscription that Shopify bills, including a trial.
