# Glossary

> Plain definitions of the terms you meet in Block Hero, with a link to the page that covers each one.

## Blocks and sections

| Term | What it means |
| - | - |
| **Block** | A spot on your storefront that Block Hero schedules. It's either a Block Hero block or a connected theme section. Each block has its own schedules and its own results. See [Create a schedule](/docs/scheduling/create-a-schedule.md). |
| **Block Hero block** | One of five ready-made blocks you add to your theme in the theme editor: Image Banner, Media Banner, Media Grid (2), Collection Grid and Collection List. See [Block Hero blocks](/docs/blocks/overview.md). |
| **Block ID** | The code that links a Block Hero block in your theme to its block in Block Hero. Copy it from **Add to theme editor** on the block's page and paste it into the block's settings in the theme editor. See [Block Hero blocks](/docs/blocks/overview.md). |
| **Theme section** | A section that's already in your theme, such as a collection list or an image banner, that you connect to Block Hero so it can schedule what the section shows. Nothing is added to your theme. See [Theme sections](/docs/theme-sections/overview.md). |
| **Connect** | Linking a theme section to Block Hero, so it becomes a block you can schedule. See [Connect a theme section](/docs/theme-sections/connect.md). |
| **Card** | One repeated item inside a theme section, such as one tile in a collection list. On the block page, each card has its own row in the schedule. See [Theme sections](/docs/theme-sections/overview.md). |
| **Section Header** | The heading or text a theme section shows above its cards. It gets its own row at the top of the schedule and in reports. See [Theme sections](/docs/theme-sections/overview.md). |
| **Field** | One setting of a theme section that Block Hero can schedule, such as an image, a heading or a link. You switch each field on or off. A field that's off shows **Not scheduled**. See [Choose which fields to schedule](/docs/theme-sections/choose-fields.md). |
| **Stays in the theme editor** | The settings of a theme section that Block Hero doesn't schedule, such as layout and colours. You keep editing them in the theme editor. See [Choose which fields to schedule](/docs/theme-sections/choose-fields.md). |
| **Dynamic source** | Shopify's way of filling a theme setting from stored content instead of a typed value. You link each scheduled field in the theme editor with **Connect dynamic source**. See [Link fields in the theme editor](/docs/theme-sections/link-in-the-theme-editor.md). |
| **Entry** | The Block Hero content you pick when you connect a dynamic source. Each card of a connected section has its own entry. Its name starts with `bh-`. See [Link fields in the theme editor](/docs/theme-sections/link-in-the-theme-editor.md). |
| **Live theme** | The theme your shoppers see. Block Hero checks connected sections against your live theme. See [Connection status](/docs/theme-sections/connection-status.md). |
| **Fallback** | What a theme section shows when a schedule ends and nothing comes after it, if you choose **Show a fallback** instead of **Keep last schedule**. See [What shows between schedules](/docs/theme-sections/between-schedules.md). |
| **App embed** | A Shopify theme feature that runs an app on every page of your storefront, turned on in the theme editor under App embeds. Block Hero's is called **Block Hero analytics**. See [Turn on analytics](/docs/get-started/turn-on-analytics.md). |

## Scheduling

| Term | What it means |
| - | - |
| **Schedule** | A start date and time, and an end date and time or **No end date**, for what a block shows. A block shows one schedule at a time. See [Create a schedule](/docs/scheduling/create-a-schedule.md). |
| **Content** | What a block shows during a schedule: an image, a heading, a link and so on. On Image Banner and Media Banner blocks, each piece of content has its own dates. See [Create a schedule](/docs/scheduling/create-a-schedule.md). |
| **Content block** | One item in a schedule on a Media Grid (2), Collection Grid or Collection List block, such as one tile. Add each with **Add content block**. See [Create a schedule](/docs/scheduling/create-a-schedule.md). |
| **No end date** | A schedule or piece of content that stays live until you change it. Nothing else on the block can run into it, before or after, until you give it an end date. See [When content goes live](/docs/scheduling/when-content-goes-live.md). |
| **Status** | **Active** (live now), **Scheduled** (starts later) or **Inactive** (ended). Block Hero sets it from the dates. See [Statuses](/docs/scheduling/statuses.md). |
| **Status set by hand** | On Image Banner and Media Banner blocks, a status you choose for one piece of content that ignores its dates. Its date badge on the **Scheduler** turns orange. See [Statuses](/docs/scheduling/statuses.md#setting-a-status-by-hand). |
| **Enabled and Disabled** | Whether a Block Hero block is on. A disabled block shows nothing, whatever its schedules say. See [Turn a block on or off](/docs/scheduling/turn-a-block-on-or-off.md). |
| **Not published** | Your last change to a block didn't reach your store. Your store still shows the previous version. See [Troubleshooting publishing](/docs/troubleshooting/publishing.md). |
| **Store time zone** | The time zone set in your Shopify admin. Every date and time in Block Hero uses it. See [When content goes live](/docs/scheduling/when-content-goes-live.md). |

## Results

| Term | What it means |
| - | - |
| **Impression** | One time your content was shown, whether or not a shopper interacted with it. See [What each metric means](/docs/results/metrics.md). |
| **Click** | One time a shopper interacted with your content, such as a button press or screen touch. See [What each metric means](/docs/results/metrics.md). |
| **CTR** | Clickthrough rate: clicks relative to impressions. See [What each metric means](/docs/results/metrics.md). |
| **Session** | A visit that started with a click on one of your blocks. It ends after 30 minutes with no activity. Orders and other results are credited to the block and content that started the session. See [What each metric means](/docs/results/metrics.md#how-an-order-is-credited-to-a-block). |
| **Added to cart**, **Reached checkout**, **Orders**, **Revenue** | What happened in sessions that started with a click on one of your blocks. See [What each metric means](/docs/results/metrics.md). |
| **Period** | The date range picked at the top of a page. Numbers and date badges follow it. See [Reports and where to find them](/docs/results/reports.md). |
| **Content during period** | The table of everything your blocks showed in the period you picked, with its results. See [Reports and where to find them](/docs/results/reports.md). |
| **Report** | All metrics for one block, opened with **View report**. See [Reports and where to find them](/docs/results/reports.md). |
| **Not counted yet** and **Since** | Notes that Block Hero hasn't started counting a metric for your store, or started part way through your period. See [When counting starts](/docs/results/when-counting-starts.md). |

## Billing

| Term | What it means |
| - | - |
| **Plan** | Your Block Hero subscription. It follows your store's Shopify plan. See [Plans](/docs/billing/plans.md). |
| **Free trial** | The free days on your store's first subscription. The plan card shows how many. See [Free trial, change or cancel](/docs/billing/trial-change-cancel.md). |
| **Subscription status** | The badge on the **Current plan** card, such as **Active** or **Pending approval**. See [Subscription status](/docs/billing/subscription-status.md). |
