# Create a schedule

> Add content to a block with a start date and an end date, so it goes live and comes down on its own.

A schedule is the content a block shows and the dates it shows it. You add schedules on the block's page. To get there, go to **Scheduler** and click the block's name. If the block doesn't exist yet, see [Schedule your first block](/docs/get-started/schedule-your-first-block.md).

How you add a schedule depends on the kind of block.

## Image Banner and Media Banner

Each piece of content has its own dates.

**1. Click Schedule content**

On the block's page, in the **Content** card, click **Schedule content**.

**2. Name the content**

Type a **Content Name**. It is used for tracking performance and is not visible on your store.

**3. Set the dates**

Under **Scheduling**, pick a **Start date** and **End date**, each with a time. Or tick **No end date** to keep it live until you change it.

**4. Add the content and save**

Add the images and any text or link. See [Image Banner](/docs/blocks/image-banner.md) or [Media Banner](/docs/blocks/media-banner.md) for each field. Click **Save**.

## Media Grid, Collection Grid and Collection List

One schedule holds a set of content blocks that go live together.

**1. Set the dates**

On the block's page, in the **Content Scheduling** card, pick a **Start date** and **End date**, or tick **No end date**. A new schedule starts when the block's latest schedule ends, or now if there is none. Change it if you need to.

**2. Add content blocks**

Click **Add content block** and fill it in. Repeat for each item. If the block has a limit, it shows next to **Add content block** as the number used out of the number allowed. Drag items to change their order.

**3. Save**

Click **Save** in the save bar at the top of the page. While you have unsaved changes, the card shows **Not saved**.

## Theme sections

One schedule sets what every card in the section shows.

**1. Click Add Content Schedule**

On the block's page, click **Add Content Schedule**.

**2. Set the dates**

Pick a **Start date** and **End date**, or tick **No end date**.

**3. Set each card's content**

Click **Edit** (or **Add**) on a card's row, fill in its content, then click **Done**. See [Theme sections](/docs/theme-sections/overview.md) for how cards and the **Section Header** row work.

**4. Save**

Click **Save** in the save bar at the top of the page.

## After you save

Your schedule appears on the block's page with a status badge: **Scheduled** until its start date, then **Active**. See [Statuses](/docs/scheduling/statuses.md).

## If Block Hero won't save the dates

| Message | What to do |
| - | - |
| **End date must be after start date** | Move the end date later than the start date. |
| **These dates overlap another schedule in this block.** or **These dates overlap other content in this block.** | A block shows one schedule at a time. Change the dates so they don't overlap another schedule. |
| **Give "…" an end date first. It has none, so nothing can be scheduled after it.** | Earlier content on this block has no end date. Give it an end date first. |

>
> On Media Grid, Collection Grid, Collection List and theme section blocks, you can repeat a schedule a week later. Open the schedule's menu and choose **Duplicate**. The copy opens with the same content and its dates moved forward 7 days. Check the dates, then save. See [Edit, restore or delete](/docs/scheduling/edit-restore-delete.md).
